The best way to get involved in WACM is to attend our events. We typically host a variety of events throughout the year, including visits to tech offices such as Epic and Google, attending the Grace Hopper Celebration of Women in Computing, meals with distinguished women in the tech field, informational sessions on Linux, club brunches, social lunches, and mentoring events.
Join our (low volume) mailing list for announcements of upcoming events and so forth. The list is maintained by the CSL using the Mailman program. You can subscribe to the list by going to the subscription page. Please subscribe with your wisc.edu or cs.wisc.edu email address.
Get in touch with other WACM members on Slack! If you're unfamiliar with it, Slack is a messaging tool for organizations. If you have questions about searching for jobs or internships, attending the Grace Hopper Conference, or computer science/school in general this is the place to ask. Sign up here with your wisc.edu or cs.wisc.edu email.
We pair CS grad student mentors and ungrad mentees to connect mentees with a person to consult for computer science information (e.g. opportunities in CS, various sub-fields of CS, industry vs. graduate school, etc) and help them build a network of peers in computer science. WACM mentoring events will help you meet other women in the CS department, learn about CS, and of course, have fun! For more information, contact the Mentoring Co-Chairs.
Grace Hopper Celebration Scholarship
WACM provides scholarships for women to attend the Grace Hopper Celebration of Women in Computing. It is the world's largest gathering of women technologists and truly an incredible experience to learn more about the technology industry and network with other amazing women. Make sure to apply at the end of spring semester!
